Sekyra Group wins another award
I am delighted that Sekyra Group’s Smíchov City project has received another award, said Luděk Sekyra, chairman of the Board of Directors of Sekyra Group. The SM3 residential block, part of the first phase of our project, which connects to the Na Knížecí bus station, was awarded the Architects’ Prize in the Real Estate Project of the Year 2024 competition by a panel of experts. This is the largest competition for residential development projects in the Czech Republic, and this year marks the 16th time this prestigious event has been held. I greatly appreciate the award and see it as recognition of the long-term work of our entire team.
The award-winning residential block is divided into nine buildings. Each has its own entrance from the street and from the inner courtyard, and the individual buildings are characterised by varying materials and architectural details. The differing heights of the floors, ground floors and top floors add variety to the block. It thus does not appear monolithic, but as a natural part of the originally evolved city, thus preserving the atmosphere of Smíchov. The main architect of the block was haas cook zemmrich STUDIO2050. The block, which includes 204 apartments, was completed last autumn.
The Smíchov City project was preceded by more than fifteen years of preparation. Twenty-one studios from the Czech Republic and abroad were selected for the design of the first three phases through international architectural competitions. The original and innovative approach, using a different architect for each block, guarantees its uniqueness and the resulting diversity of the entire district. Our ambition is to create a new centre for Prague that will become a modern alternative to its historic core.
